KIVA: SBCC MICROCREDIT LENDING TEAM
South Bay Community Church has created a lending team where we can make loans together and track our collective impact over time. KIVA is a non-profit organization that uses their website (kiva.org) to connect individual lenders to low-income entrepreneurs. KIVA shows you who your money is going to, what they are doing with it, and how you are making a difference. KIVA finds groups of lenders interested in loaning to entrepreneurs and pools their money into one large loan. The average amount borrowed is $385. You can loan as little as $25 and once the entrepreneur repays the loan, the principal is returned to you and you are free to withdraw it, or even better, loan that money again to another business. On February 12thand February 19th, we will have computers available to help people set up their KIVA accounts in Rhonda’s Bistro. For more information, please contact Tyler Watson, Missions/Evangelism Pastor at 510.490.9500 ext. 112 or Desrie Campbell at 510-490-9500 ext. 110.

A.C.T.S. LEADERSHIP MEETING
To our SBCC Leaders, please plan to attend our next A.C.T.S. (Actively Choosing To Serve) Meeting, Saturday, February 18th. A.C.T.S. meetings are a time of fellowship, connection, support and encouragement while learning more about God’s plan for us as leaders. We have invited guest speakers to present two topics requested by our SBCC Leaders:
Mentoring - SBCC Leaders are expected to grow and develop the next leaders. Learn practical guidelines to identify who to mentor and how to be an effective mentor.
Avoiding Unhealthy Enabling - As we are called to serve others, most often our help is for the good of others, but there are also situations where healthy help becomes unhealthy enabling of dysfunctional behavior. Learn how to identify when help is healthy versus unhealthy and what to do when faced with an unhealthy enabling situation.
We will serve a light continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. with the meeting starting at 9:00 a.m. and finishing at 11:30am. Please RSVP by Wednesday, February 8th.

RECYCLING FUND RAISER
The Youth Ministry is launching a new phase of its recycling fund raiser program at SBCC. In the past we have asked that church members save their recyclable plastics and aluminum ONLY and bring them to church on the third Sunday each month. We will explore an additional way to process/recycle our plastics and aluminum. This additional process will ask you to deliver your recyclables to a site near you, get your voucher, write your name on the back of the voucher, and then bring the voucher to the church and place it in the offering basket. These vouchers will be collected and given to the Youth Ministry, where they will be processed through a company called ‘rePlanet’. They will process the vouchers and will send back a check for the amount collected PLUS 10%. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Louise at 510.490.9500 ext. 117.
