Gary Banks, Sr., Elder

Gary Banks, Sr. has been married for 27 years. He has three college-age children who attended and/or graduated from historically black colleges and universities. He is blessed with one granddaughter.

Gary’s relationship with Christ began in March 1980 while he was on the campus of UC Berkeley. His mission in life has always been to help mankind. He has been a licensed embalmer and cemetery counselor for over 23 years.

For the past 26 years, he has been involved in ministry. Gary has served as Charter Member and Deacon of SBCC working with San Jose Care Units #2, #3, and Fremont; Men’s Fellowship Servant Leader; served with the Hosting Ministry, Male Chorus, Couples for Christ Co-Servant Leader; Sunday School Teacher; Youth Ministry; Bereavement Ministry; as well as the Bill Graham Evangelism Ministry Team ‘Pray for the Bay’ Counselor. His Spiritual Gifts include Helping, Giving, Teaching, and Administration.

Sid Huges, Elder

Sid Hughes has been a member at SBCC since August 1989. He serves as Elder over the Fremont South #1 and North #1 Care Units, and is a board member of the Bay Area Genesis Company. Sid also served as a member of the Finance Ministry Team.

Brenda Ray, Elder

Gwen Senegal, Elder

Gwen Senegal has been a family member of SBCC since June, 1988. She has been serving as an Elder since November, 2002 and currently serves over the Newark, Hayward, and Union City Care Units. Her God given gifts are being utilized as the Elder of the Stephen Ministry and the Benevolence Ministry. Gwen also instructs C.L.A.S.S. 101 and is a Spritual Gift Interviewer. She has served in Sunday School and was a Deacon for 9 years.

Maurice Smallwood, Elder

Serving Care Unit San Jose #2, Maurice Smallwood has served in ministry for over 18 years here at SBCC! He is presently serving as an Elder and has been for the past 4 years. Serving as Elder for Magnification Team II (MarCom Dept), Maurice can run a sound board, put on a Photography hat and even dabble in Videography. Maurice has served in the Men's Ministry for 3 years and the Couples for Christ Ministry. He was a Deacon for SBCC for 9 years. He also has provided guidance and expertise in the Audio Ministry and has been for 19 years.
