Denise Churchill, Deacon

Grover Clay, Jr., Deacon

Grover Clay Jr. has been married to Gertrude (Gert) Clay for 39 years. They are blessed with two daughters, Vyvry and Shawndell, and a ten year-old grandson, Elijah. After graduating from high school in Oakland, Grover received an Electrical Engineering degree from San Jose State University. He worked in the Aerospace, Nuclear and Semiconductor industries, retiring last year.

Though a Christian since childhood, Grover feels he began developing a relationship with God when he joined SBCC in 2001. He has participated in several small groups and has held the position of Servant Leader for the Audio Ministry for a few years. Grover eagerly offers his services whenever needed by his church family. Grover is serving over the San Jose #3 Care Unit as Deacon.

Jennifer Clay, Deacon

Jennifer Clay has been attending South Bay Community Church for 12 years and a member since 2003. She is currently serving as Deacon over the Young Adult Care Unit.

At SBCC, Jennifer has used her gifts of exhortation, teaching and administration while serving on the Young Adult Committee and Marcom Ministry, and has continuously served in the Adult Christian Formation Ministry for over six years overseeing marketing and promotions and as a facilitator for the quarterly Singles Class. She is also an active member of her small group, Servants in the Name of God (SING).

Tony DeGruy, Deacon

Tony DeGruy has been a member of SBCC since 2000 and has served as Deacon for 3 years. He serves in the Men's Ministry and previously the Youth Ministry. His current responsibilities include serving as a Co-Servant Leader for the Men's Ministry and teaching the Senior High Sunday School class. He has also sung with the Male Chorus.

PJ Flenory-Kellogg, Deacon

PJ has been a member of SBCC since March 1996. She serves as Deacon of Care Units Newark and Union City. She serves in the Communion Ministry where she previously was the Servant Leader. She has also served in the Hosting Ministry.

Rob Ingebretson, Deacon

Jeff Lockett, Deacon

Jeff Lockett has been a member at SBCC since March 1989. He is currently a member of the Sanctuary Mass Choir and the Male Chorus. Jeff serves as Deacon of Care Units Hayward/Union City. He has also participated in Pastor Long's Joshua Squad for Men.

Sheila Singletary, Deacon

Sheila Singletary and her husband, Ronald, relocated to the Bay Area from New Hampshire in 1995 and have been members of South Bay for 12 years. They have been married for 26 years and have 2 college-aged children. Sheila has been an operating room nurse for 20 years and is currently working at Kaiser, San Jose in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Sheila has been a choir member since 1997, and from 1997-2004, co-directed the children’s choir; served on the praise & worship team since 2001; served on the health and wholeness ministry for several years and became servant leader of the ministry in 2006. Currently, she and Ronald attend a small group in Saratoga twice a month. Sheila’s hobbies include reading and playing scrabble. Sheila is serving over the San Jose #2 Care Unit as Deacon.

Daniel Walton, Deacon

Daniel has been a member at SBCC since October 2000. He serves as Deacon for Fremont South #1 Care Unit. He is currently a member of the Transportation Ministry and serves as a Bus Driver, and a Prison Ministry Team Leader. Daniel has served as a Co-Servant Leader of the Men's Ministry and a Children's Ministry Teacher.
