Changing the World through Outreach

One needs only to take a cursory look at our world to know that the human race is in trouble. Disease, poverty, abuses, injustice, environmental and economic concerns are a rampant plaque touching every person in one way or another. There is something detrimentally wrong with the systems of this world.

At SBCC, we believe God has called us to be actively engaged in Changing the World the way Jesus did. Specifically, we are charged with offering hope, reconciliation and the restoration of a personal relationship with God, wherever darkness and injustice abound. We call these areas of darkness the Six Global Giants of our World.

The Six Global Giants and Jesus' Response

1. To the Giant of Spiritual Emptiness: Jesus Preached Reconciliation

God has trusted us with the message that people may be brought back to him. So we are Christ's official messengers. It is as if God were making his appeal through us. Here is what Christ wants us to beg you to do. Come back to God! (2 Corinthians 5:18-20, NIRV)

Jesus called them together. He said, "You know about the rulers of the nations. They hold power over their people. Their high officials order them around. Don't be like that. Instead, anyone who wants to be important among you must be your servant." (Mark 3:14, NIRV)
