Winter Relief Program

South Bay Community Church in partnership with In Roads Church and City Serve brought tangible evidence of God’s love to homeless families during Winter Relief earlier this year.

The Winter Relief program hosts shelter and meals to warm with the ‘light of the Lord’s presence’ during the coldest times of the year.  In Roads Church was this year’s host church and South Bay provided the meals.

Seven SBCC small groups and a number of individuals participated by providing home cooked, gourmet meals such as fried cat fish, barbeque ribs, spaghetti and turkey meatloaf, to name a few.  But, there was much more shared than physical food.

On one of the nights a SBCC’s men’s small groups met with Winter Relief participants to study “The Wired Word” together.  It was an enthusiastic Bible study exploring current events in light of God’s Word.   The study was so well received that a second study was conducted by SBCC’s men’s ministry.

The entire experience was a mutual blessing of communion and companionship.  So much so, that many of the men agreed to stay in touch.
