Changing the Community One Treat at a Time

“The vision for this year was to demonstrate the love of Christ to our community, provide a safe alternative for Halloween, to use the objects and events of the culture to counter the culture, and to articulate to the kid in our community that Jesus loves them.”

The Trunk or Treat Committee for G.L.O.W. Children’s Ministry

This October the GLOW Children’s Ministry countered the traditional Halloween festivities by hosting its first community wide Trunk or Treat as our fall missions and evangelism project at Leitch Elementary School. Volunteers from South Bay Community Church parked their cars, and cleverly crated their trunks to hand out candy, gospel tracts and treats to over 500 kids not to mention parents.  Children all throughout the community came and enjoyed engaging in exciting carnival games and prizes led by our youth and young adults, colorful balloon characters twisted by a professional twister, snow cones, a cake walk and much more.

We had a ‘treat’ of a time!

“It warmed my heart to see so many families come out to this fun event.  The genuine laughter from the kids was very contagious!”
